2019 Election

The CMA worked with provincial and territorial museums associations to highlight the importance of museums during the 2019 federal election.

As the 43rd Canadian Parliament gets underway, the Canadian Museums Association (CMA) has, in an open letter, called on the Prime Minister of Canada to fulfill his Party’s promise to review the National Museum Policy. Visit Election 2019 for more details.

October 2019 — Federal Election 2019

National, provincial and territorial museums associations are working together on advocacy efforts. On October 8, 2019, we issued joint letters to federal political party leaders asking them to share their election commitments for the museum sector. Visit Election 2019 for more details.

 

September 2018 – Standing Committee on Finance

The CMA made a submission to the House of Commons Standing Committee on Finance in response to its annual consultation in preparation of the next federal budget. This submission was followed by a presentation to the committee along with a question and answer session.

August 2017 – Standing Committee on Finance

The CMA made a submission to the House of Commons Standing Committee on Finance in response to its annual consultation in preparation of the next federal budget. This year, the Committee sought submissions on the topic of productivity and competitiveness. Our submission therefore presents recommendations for the 2018 budget in that context.

June 2017 — Government of Manitoba

The CMA made a submission to the Government of Manitoba in response to a consultation on the development of a new cultural policy for the province. Our submission tied some of our current initiatives to questions raised in the government’s discussion paper.
