Here is a list of the funding programs and benefits available to museums from the Government of Canada.

COVID-19 Emergency Support Fund for Heritage Organizations – Museums Assistance Program
Providing $53 million in support to organizations with heritage collections. Application deadline: September 1st. 

Canada Emergency Wage Subsidy (CEWS)

Canada Emergency Business Account (CEBA)
This $55 billion program provides interest-free loans of up to $40,000 to small businesses and not-for-profits impacted by COVID-19. 

Reporting deadlines for charities
The filing deadline has been extended to December 31, 2020 for all charities with a Form T3010, Registered Charity Information Return due between March 18, 2020 and December 31, 2020.This will allow charities more time to complete and submit their T3010. 

GST/HST remittances deferred
Goods and Services Tax/Harmonized Sales Tax (GST/HST) remittances that are owing have been deferred until June 30, 2020. This varies for each institution depending on their remittance frequency.

For museum professionals

Canada Emergency Response Benefit (CERB)
CERB gives financial support to employed and self-employed Canadians who are directly affected by COVID-19. Now extended from 16 weeks to 24 weeks. 

Canada Emergency Student Benefit (CESB)
CESB provides financial support to post-secondary students, and recent post-secondary and high school graduates who are unable to find work due to COVID-19. 

Canada Student Service Grant (CSSG)
Volunteer with a not-for-profit organization (like a museum) and receive a one-time grant from $1,000 up to $5,000 in recognition of your service.
