National Conference cancellation

May 19, 2020

Dear colleagues,

There continue to be legitimate concerns regarding the coronavirus and its impact on large gatherings and travel.

Despite a cautiously optimistic approach that contemplated moving the CMA 2020 National Conference in Montreal to the fall, the CMA and its Board of Directors have made the difficult but necessary decision to cancel the event for 2020.

Please note that participants who registered for the conference do not need to contact us for refunds. The registration fees will be refunded soon.

If you have a hotel reservation at the Sheraton Montreal, it will be cancelled automatically and there is no need for you to take action.

Meanwhile, we will look for ways to offer you professional development, networking and knowledge-sharing activities virtually, while we also continue to work to support the museum community and enhance our services to you in a variety of other ways.

Like you, we very much hope and anticipate that the situation will improve and that we will be in a position to gather together at the CMA 2021 National Conference planned for St. John’s.

We wish you good health and all the best in your personal and professional efforts to overcome the significant challenges we are currently facing. Through this, it has become even more clear that the world needs its museums. Your continued support of the CMA and its efforts to support the museum community — at all times but even more so now — is deeply appreciated.

Onward,

Dr. Vanda Vitali, Ph.D.
