Why should I become a member?

The CMA’s mission is to champion, support, connect and elevate the museum sector. Members of the CMA enjoy many great benefits and special privileges, including for example a subscription to Muse magazine, a bi-weekly e-newsletter, daily press clippings, competitively priced insurance programs, free or discounted admission to participating museums and special rates for professional development programming — to name just a few. Plus, membership fees may be tax deductible, so check with your financial advisor. Best of all, your support of the CMA, through your membership, helps us advocate for public policies and support, build skills across the profession, and establish and inspire connections to strengthen and sustain museums. How do I join?

Becoming a member is easy. Check out our Membership categories to determine which category you should apply for and then complete the online application form.

How do I renew my membership?

You can renew your membership online. Simply log in to your account and pay with your credit card. You can also send us a cheque for the amount of your membership fee or you can contact us at or 613-567-0099, x222 for an invoice.

What period is covered by my membership fee?

Your membership is good for one year. The CMA will contact you by email and post to remind you when your membership is due for renewal.

When should I expect my membership card?

Depending on how you join, it can take anywhere from two days to three weeks to receive your new member welcome package. Membership applications sent in the mail take longer to account for the time it takes to arrive at our office and to your home.
