Information for youth
Looking for professional development opportunities in Canada’s museums and heritage sector? You may be eligible for a job or internship with the Young Canada Works (YCW) Program.
There are two streams of funding:
- YCW in Heritage Organizations (YCW-HO): an employment program for students
- YCW at Building Careers in Heritage (YCW-BCH): funds internships for young college or university graduates.
YCW is an important investment in the future of the museum industry, creating professional development opportunities for you, our future colleagues, and supporting the CMA’s strategic objective to strengthen the museum workforce today and for the future.
Jumpstart your career! YCW participants go on to become leaders in the field. Read success stories to learn more about how the program can lead to great career opportunities.
In addition to YCW, you can also check out the CMA’s Jobs in Heritage job board, a top source for heritage sector employment.
The YCW program provides funding for jobs and internships in museums and heritage organizations as part of the Government of Canada’s Youth Employment and Skills Strategy.
The Government of Canada has created a dedicated page for Canadian youth to learn more about the full program offerings.
This program is made possible by the Government of Canada.
With funding from the Department of Canadian Heritage, the CMA also delivers a Bursary Program which includes dedicated funding to support emerging professionals in their professional development.
At the Canadian Museums Association, one of our objectives is to strengthen the museum workforce today and for the future.
